The Aston Villa captain had good and bad moments at the Emirates.

Jack Grealish has divided Aston Villa fans this season and today has been no different.

The Villa-daft midfielder captained Dean Smith’s side at Arsenal today, but it ended in a 3-2 defeat for the visitors.

Grealish’s brilliant run through the Gunners’ defence ultimately resulted in Wesley firing Aston Villa into a 2-1 lead against Unai Emery’s side with half-an-hour to play.

It was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang whose 84th-minute free kick downed the Villans, but some fans of the West Midlands club have questioned Grealish in the wall – and are particularly questioning whether their skipper could have blocked it had he not jumped out of the way.

There’s certainly an argument to be made that Aubameyang may not have scored had Grealish jumped straight but, by the same token, television replays haven’t offered conclusive evidence.

And really, it doesn’t matter if he did or not. The cold facts are that Aston Villa are 18th in the Premier League table after winning only four points from six games so far.
