Liverpool’s rivals Manchester City mean business and their win over Watford proves as much.

Manchester City sent a warning to Liverpool this afternoon with an 8-0 pummeling of Watford.

Pep Guardiola’s side went into the day with a five-point deficit to the European champions following their shock defeat by Norwich City last weekend.

But the Sky Blues reminded Liverpool of their sheer power with a ruthless victory over the Hornets at Eastlands this afternoon.

Incredibly, the hosts cruised into a 5-0 lead before the 20-minute mark, before Bernardo Silva made it seven by completing his hat-trick with two more second-half goals, with Kevin De Bruyne adding an eighth late on.

Here’s how fans of the Anfield club reacted to City’s performance:

Despite the emphatic display, it’ll count for little if Liverpool go and beat Chelsea tomorrow.

Jurgen Klopp’s side can restore their five-point cushion at the summit of the Premier League table with a win at Stamford Bridge, which will bring Guardiola’s troops back down to earth.

However, it’s a very, very long season and we’re not even in October. Even if the Reds do win at Chelsea, City won’t be giving up.
