The left-back is not the first Coventry City player to be linked with Leeds United of late.

Coventry City fans are reacting to reports Leeds United are tracking a second Sky Blues youngster.

Leeds were strongly linked with a move for Jodi Jones, before the Coventry winger suffered a serious injury – from which he has yet to return – last season.

And The Coventry Telegraph understands that Jones’ City colleague, Sam McCallum, has caught the eye of Whites scouts in the meantime.

McCallum has made five appearances for a Coventry side topping League One this season, and 15 in total since his 2018 move from non-league Hearn Bay FC.

And despite having lost his place to Brandon Mason last time out, some Coventry fans know they have a talent worth keeping in McCallum – although others are open to cashing in.

McCallum’s potential earned him a new three-year contract earlier this year, although interest from a club of Leeds United’s stature could be hard to ignore for either Coventry or their versatile left-back.

He recently impressed the Coventry-born former Bradford City player and manager, Greg Abbott, who told The Coventry Telegraph: “It’s what Coventry fans want to see, just people prepared to roll their sleeves up from the management down to the youngest player on the pitch, who I think was the left-back Sam McCallum, who I thought was outstanding.

“And do you know what, that’s why I was so animated because I was so pleased to see that. He’s still only 19, by the way!”

McCallum is with the same agency as the Leeds midfielder, Adam Forshaw, according to Transfermarkt.
