Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen put in one of his worst performances for the club on Wednesday evening.

Tottenham Hotspur fans are not happy with Mauricio Pochettno’s comments about Christian Eriksen’s performance against Olympiacos.

Eriksen put in arguably his worst perofrmance in a Tottenham shirt on Wednedsay evening, as Spurs drew 2-2 with Olympiacos.

The Dane came in for great criticism from Tottenham fans, but Pochettino backed his playmaker.

He said to Football London: “I am happy with the performance. Maybe yesterday wasn’t his best game like the team. The collective performance wasn’t the best from us. I am happy with the commitment of Christian, he run a lot and was very committed with the team, the effort but I think I am not concerned about him.”

The comments have not gone down well with Spurs fans though, as they feel Pochettino should have been harsher.

To be fair to Pochettino he may well have just have been protecting his player in public.

Eriksen did play very poorly on Wednesday and it would not be a surprise if strong words were had behind closed doors.

It now remains to be seen whether Eriksen will retain his place in Tottenham’s side at the weekend.

Spurs take on Leicester City tomorrow, and they will be in need of a much improved performance if they are to take all three points.
