Spurs drew 2-2 with Olympiacos in the Champions League yesterday, with their performance in Greece worryingly poor.
The Lilywhites never really got going in the match, with Spurs well short of their best.
Kane was not looking for excuses after the match either, as he criticised Tottenham’s display.
He said to EuroSport: “We’re not young anymore, we’re not inexperienced. We’ve played in big games, I can see why the manager is frustrated, he’s been here six years and we’re making similar mistakes to the first year”.
The comments have earned praise from Spurs fans, who feel that Kane shows all the credentials required to take over the captain’s armband from Hugo Lloris.
There have been long standing calls for Kane to takeover captaincy from Lloris, but Mauricio Pochettino has continued to hand the armband to the French goalkeeper.
Kane scored Tottenham’s first goal of the night yesterday, before Lucas Moura crashed home from range, but Pochettino’s men were unable to hold on.
Tottenham will next be in action against Leicester City on Saturday, when a much improved performance will be expected.
