Dele Alli has not been playing well for Tottenham Hotspur this season.

Rio Ferdinand said on BT Sport 2 (5:21pm, September 18, 2019) what Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli needs to do to get back to his best.

The Manchester United legend is a fan of Alli, and the former England international has outlined what the youngster needs to do to get back to the form he showed when he initially arrived at Tottenham.

Ferdinand said about Alli on BT Sport 2 (5:21pm, September 18, 2019): “He has great potential, he scores goals, when he gets in, he is ice-cold, but he was playing too deep, I thought, last year, the midfield having to receive the ball back to goal etc.

“I think he is best when he is running onto things, looking at the goal, and taking his chances early. He is a fantastic player when he is doing those right things.”

Improvement needed

Alli is one of the best young players in Europe, but the 23-year-old has not been on top of his game for a while now.

The England international has played just 31 minutes in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season, according to WhoScored.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the 23-year-old made 22 starts and three substitute appearances in the league for Spurs, scoring five goals and providing three assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

With Tottenham challenging for the Premier League title this season and aiming to make an impact in the Champions League, they will need Alli at his best.
