Some Liverpool fans fear that John Stones’s injury could actually benefit Manchester City.
Liverpool have built up a five point lead over City at this early stage of the campaign, and Pep Guardiola’s side look short of options at the back now.
With Aymeric Laporte and Stones out injured, City’s centre-back options are limited.
But Liverpool fans think that Guardiola could have a trick up his sleeve to benefit City.
Some Liverpool supporters predict that Kyle Walker could step into central defence, with Joao Cancelo coming in at right-back, while others think that Fernandinho may be utilised in defence.
And there are many Reds followers who think that Stones being out will actually make City an even stronger force.
John Stones being injured is a good thing for City, he is most overrated player & if they have to play Fernandinho there its more positive for them than having to play Stones!— Shamrock Red (@Shamrock_Gael) September 17, 2019
Was just telling the lads how i feel about think they're lucky, they'll probably end playing a kid who'll end up being 10 times better than him— mohammad khaja (@hugo1574) September 17, 2019
I'm the same. When I heard that I thought what's the bad news the fact that it is only 5 weeks!!!— Ian Murray (@Mugsy0407) September 17, 2019
Even Fernandinho there makes them stronger than Stones— Kartikay (@kartikaylfc) September 18, 2019
Stones is really average so it's advantage city in some sense— Bassam (@BassamLFC) September 17, 2019
They can easily play Walker at CB and Cancelo comes in at RB. This makes them a stronger team than the regular starters IMO— OG (@OgMetu) September 17, 2019
Just what I was thinking. Fernandinho will now take his place and u just know that he’ll be insane.— Dan (@Dan_Z99) September 17, 2019
Even if City do improve, if Liverpool keep winning there will be nothing that Guardiola’s men can do to stop them.
The Reds have taken maximum points from their five Premier League games so far, with their next match coming against Chelsea.
