Carlo Ancelotti's Napoli laid down their marker in the Champions League on Tuesday night when they defeated current holders Liverpool in a controversial game marred by a penalty incident.

Matt Le Tissier has slammed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp for his hypocritical comments after his side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Napoli on Tuesday night.

Klopp was reacting to a penalty which was given to the home team when the referee judged that Andy Robertson fouled Jose Callejon in the area.

But the German was adamant that the penalty shouldn't have been awarded if the player 'jumps before there is contact' as he suggested that Callejon did just that to win the foul, as quoted by The Mirror. - Dries Mertens converted, with Fernando Llorente adding a second in stoppage time.

Nonetheless, after the game, former Southampton forward Le Tissier sent this message from his personal Twitter account, as he was reacting to Klopp's comments.

Liverpool have been ripping it up during their opening five games in the Premier League, but they became unstuck against a very strong and resilient Napoli side.

RB Salzburg, who are also in Liverpool's group and face the European champions next, thrashed Belgian side Genk on the same night and they top Group E after one match.

But as Klopp's side proved last season and even Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham Hotspur proved, they can come back from anything and this is only a minor setback.

The Reds will now focus their attention on Premier League matters next and taking on Frank Lampard's Chelsea at the weekend, who suffered their own defeat to Valencia on the same night.
