Liverpool and Chelsea are set to meet this weekend in Premier League action, with Jurgen Klopp’s side facing defeat for the first time this term last night.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has told Football London that it is no shock that Liverpool lost in the Champions League last night.

Chelsea are set to face Liverpool at the weekend and both sides go into the game on the back of defeats.

Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by Valencia last night, while Liverpool slipped up for the first time this season against Napoli.

The Reds were not at their best, as they fell to a 2-0 defeat in Naples.

But Lampard insists that Liverpool had a tough task getting anything against Carlo Ancelotti’s side, and that Jurgen Klopp’s side are still one of the best squads in the competition.

“No. It’s Champions League,” Lampard said, when asked if he was shocked that Liverpool had been beaten.

“Of course Liverpool are the current holders and certainly one of the best teams in Europe. But anywhere in this Champions League you go is tough.

“I’ve been to Napoli and lost pretty heavily there a few years ago. It’s a tough stadium to go to. I’m not saying I expected them to lose but in this competition it’s difficult to win at those places.”

Liverpool were undone by a harsh penalty and a late Fernando Llorente goal, as they fell to defeat.

Chelsea, meanwhile, lost their first game in the competition this term, with Rodrigo hitting the winner for Valencia.
