West Ham United extended their unbeaten run to four games on Monday night as they drew 0-0 away at newly-promoted Aston Villa.

The Hammers had beaten Watford and Norwich City before heading to Villa Park, and were very much looking to make it three wins in a row.

It proved to be a cagey game though, often lacking real quality, with West Ham's key attackers not quite in top form here.

Arthur Masuaku picked up a red card to give Villa late hope, but West Ham stood firm and held on for a point in a goalless stalemate.

Manuel Pellegrini will now have plenty to think about ahead of the weekend game against Manchester United, and winger Andriy Yarmolenko may find his place under threat.

The Ukrainian wide man is still working his way back to fitness having missed most of last season, and having scored against Norwich last time out, he looked to be getting back to his best.

However, Yarmolenko struggled to make an impact against Villa on Monday night, and didn't really justify the huge £115,000-a-week wages he earns at the London Stadium according to Spotrac.

Fans took to Twitter to brand the 2018 signing from Borussia Dortmund as 'useless' and 'shocking', believing that he's a passenger and disappears too often, with some wanting him dropped for Pablo Fornals permanently after an anonymous display.
