New Reading signing Michael Morrison says he is enjoying playing alongside some quality players at his new club following his summer move from Championship rivals Birmingham City, the Reading Chronicle report.

“I am enjoying it here. It is a good team with some great individuals and it is nice to play with some really good players. The team is slowly coming together,” Morrison explained.

"It is a different style of football from what I have been playing and I think I have done well so that helps. I feel settled in and can voice my opinion in the dressing room and help move the club forward."

Reading were defeated 1-0 at the weekend by Middlesbrough, but their current lowly position in the Championship table hasn’t reflected their performances on the pitch.

The Royals, under the guidance of Jose Gomes, made some big signings in the summer such as Lucas Joao and George Puscas and they have been playing some decent stuff so far this season.

Morrison arrived following a four-year spell at Birmingham. He played more than 170 league games for the Blues under managers Lee Clark, Gary Rowett, Gianfranco Zola, Harry Redknapp, Steve Cotterill and Garry Monk.

It was a battle at St. Andrew’s. Two 19th place finishes, the succession of managers and the financial position of the club last season meant there was no stability at the West Midlands club.

Morrison will be hoping his spell at Reading is less turbulent. The Royals have plenty of potential under Gomes, and they are likely to get better as the season progresses.
