Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce already wants to add to his attack in the January transfer window.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Newcastle United have sent scouts out to watch Sevilla winger Rony Lopes on multiple occasions.

Newcastle are set to be given £25 million to spend in January, with Steve Bruce wanting to improve his attack.

Lopes is a player firmly on the Magpies’ radar, with Newcastle scouts watching him for 12 months, even dating back to when Rafael Benitez was in charge.

Newcastle are said to be open to taking the winger on loan or a permanent deal, with Bruce now very keen to have him.

If Lopes was to join Newcastle it could give Bruce’s side some excellent options out wide.

The Magpies already have Miguel Almiron, Matt Ritchie and Allan Saint-Maximin who can play on the wing, but Lopes could still have an important role to play.

The Portuguese international, crucially, appears to have an eye for goal – after netting 17 times in the 2017/18 campaign – and that must make him an appealing addition.

Newcastle have struggled to find a prolific scorer so far this campaign, and if they don’t manage to hit the back of the net more often it could be a season of struggle for the Tynesiders.
