Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will have Lorenzo Insigne under close watch later this evening.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - FEBRUARY 19:Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold prepares to take a corner kick

Trent Alexander Arnold and Jurgen Klopp have both praised Lorenzo Insigne, just months after he was linked with a move to Liverpool.

Liverpool were heavily linked with Insigne last summer, and La Repubblica claims that the Reds even made a bid earlier this year, which was worth £61 million.

The Reds are due to come against Insigne, who plays for Napoli, in Champions League action later this evening.

And Alexander-Arnold is under no illusions over how tough it could be to mark the Italian attacker.

“He's a great player, probably a little bit underrated in terms of the respect and the plaudits that he gets, but he's a real fantastic player,” he said to the London Evening Standard

Klopp actually moved to deny rumours that Liverpool wanted Insigne, but he has made similar comments before only to go on and sign the player in question.

So far Liverpool haven’t got a deal over the line for Insigne, but there can be no questioning that Klopp rates him after his comments yesterday at his press conference, which was broadcast by Liverpool's official channel on Youtube

"I always see him smiling before games in my face! Wonderful player, pretty quick," he said.

If Liverpool could get three points against Napoli later this evening it would be a real statement of intent, as they aim to defend their Champions League title.
