Manuel Lanzini missed much of last season at West Ham United with injury.

Jamie Carragher has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on Sky Sports on 16th September, that he thinks West Ham United really missed Manuel Lanzini last season.

Lanzini was ruled out for the bulk of the 2018/19 campaign after he damaged his cruciate ligament, and he only returned to action in the final few months of West Ham’s season.

Lanzini, who is on a £70,000-a-week contract at the London Stadium (Spotrac), is now looking to make up for lost time this term, as he aims to help West Ham push to claim a top six spot.

The Argentine has two assists to his name in five Premier League matches this term.

And Carragher has revealed that he is a huge fan of Lanzini.

“I’m a massive fan on Lanzini, I think he was a big miss for West Ham when he was injured last season,” he said.

Lanzini wasn’t quite at his best for West Ham last night, as they failed to get past Aston Villa.

West Ham managed to claim a 0-0 draw with Villa, but lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

The Hammers could still reflect on the point as a positive one, as they were reduced to 10 men for the final 30 minutes, when Arthur Masuaku was harshly sent off.

West Ham are currently in eighth place in the Premier League table.
