Leeds United beat Barnsley 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Leeds United were in action on Sunday afternoon, making the short trip to Barnsley for a Yorkshire derby – and they claimed a 2-0 win.
The Whites lost 1-0 at home to Swansea City before the international break, and needed to hit back in order to keep up a fine start to the season.
They did just that, but it took a while for them to make their breakthrough. Young Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah was on the scoresheet yet again, scoring his fourth goal for Leeds late in the day by tapping home from close range.
Nketiah then won a penalty in the dying embers of the game, with Mateusz Klich nonchalantly rolling the ball home to seal a 2-0 victory.
Leeds fans will be delighted with the win having tasted defeat in their last game, and the travelling fans at Oakwell were greeted by a familiar face.
Sampdoria midfielder Ronaldo Vieira – sold by Leeds for £7.7million rising to £10million in 2018 (BBC Sport) – was spotted in the away end on Sunday, cheering on his former club.
One Leeds fan took to Twitter to post a photo alongside Vieira, and the midfielder was free this weekend given that he was suspended for a red card against Sassuolo before the international break.
Vieira will have no doubt loved seeing Leeds pick up another win, and fans will also be delighted to know that even though Vieira left Elland Road over a year ago, he still keeps Leeds close to his heart.
