Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
Kent joined Rangers from Premier League club Liverpool on transfer deadline day for a fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £7.5 million.
The 22-year-old winger spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at the Gers from the Reds and was one of the best players in the team.
The signing of the former England Under-20 international came a day after Rangers lost 2-0 to Celtic at Ibrox in the Old Firm derby.
Gerrard told The Scottish Sun about the signing of Kent: “The Celtic defeat had nothing to do with it. We’d been trying to get Ryan Kent back from the moment he walked out the door.
“It wasn’t a reaction to losing. We had a board meeting the day before the Old Firm game.
“Thankfully we got it done just in time but there were times through the transfer window when I didn’t think we’d get him.”
Good signing for Rangers
Rangers do have a number of wingers already on their books, but Kent does add more potency to their attack and adds more depth to the squad.
The winger did turn up in the big games for Rangers last season, and the Ibrox club are a better team with him in it.
