Vedat Muriqi scored against England and has been compared to Lewandowski – no wonder Premier League side West Ham United want him.
The race to sign Fenerbahce goal machine Vedat Muriqi is heating up with Sabah claiming that West Ham United have joined London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in chasing a striker who has been compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robert Lewandowski.
The 25-year-old has barely stopped scoring in the last 12 months. After hitting 17 for Caykur Rizespor last season, he got his big break at Fenerbahce and hasn’t looked back.
A hulking 6ft 4ins centre-forward with his hair tied up in a bun, Muriqi shares a number of similarities with Ibrahimovic on the pitch and off it too, though Fenerbahce team-mate Max Kruse feels he more closely resembles Bayern Munich’s evergreen number nine.
“I compare him to Lewandowski. I think he will be at Bayern’s level in 2-3 seasons,” Kruse told Aksam this week.
And after a goal in Kosovo’s thrilling 5-3 defeat to England at St Mary’s on Tuesday night, West Ham have joined the race for a player who might well be on his way out of Fenerbahce after just half a season at the Istanbul giants.
The report adds that Napoli, AC Milan and Inter would love to bring the late-blooming 25-year-old to Serie A while Muriqi has admirers in Spain too in the shape of Atletico Madrid and Valencia.
But with West Ham paying a club-record fee to sign Sebastien Haller to the London Stadium over the summer, would Davids Gold and Sullivan be willing to invest a huge sum in another centre-forward come the turn of the year?
