Baines has taken on an elder statesman’s role at Everton, and often advises the younger players.
But the experienced full-back claims that Davies’s attitude is so good that he doesn’t even need any words of wisdom.
Baines said: “Tom [Davies] is very cool, I love Tom and his personality. He's his own man. He's strong-minded as well, much more comfortable within himself than I was at that age.
"Tom doesn't need me to progress. It's like all of the young lads coming through, you have to let it happen naturally. There will be times when you will give young players a little boost whether it's on the training ground or the pitch.”
Davies has endured a difficult season at Everton so far this season.
The youngster has barely featured for Marco Silva’s side, with just 11 minutes worth of action under his belt to date.
Davies was not even included in Everton’s match day squad for their recent EFL Cup tie against Lincoln City, which was a major shock.
The midfielder did catch the eye over the international break though, with two strong performances for England’s under-21 side, and that should have reminded everyone at Goodison Park of his talents.
It now remains to be seen whether Silva will include Davies in Everton’s squad this weekend, when the Toffees take on Bournemouth.
