The summer Rangers recruit has played just once for Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox outfit.

Brandon Barker trained with Rangers on Friday, allaying injury concerns.

Barker limped out of Rangers’ Glasgow Cup defeat against Partick Thistle at the end of last month and has been absent from subsequent squads.

And even though Ryan Kent has returned to Ibrox in the meantime, Rangers would not have wanted another unavailable winger with Jordan Jones set for a month on the sidelines.

But an update on Rangers’ Instagram story this evening showed Barker, a summer signing from Manchester City, picking out the bottom corner of Wes Foderingham’s goal at the club’s Hummel Training Centre earlier.

Whether or not Barker will make Saturday’s visit of Livingston remains to be seen, however.

As well as Barker, Jones and Kent, Gerrard’s wide options also include Sheyi Ojo and Greg Stewart – not to mention the out-of-favour duo, Jamie Murphy, Eros Grezda.

Both Murphy and Grezda played for Rangers Colts against Hibernian on Wednesday.
