The Toffees summer signing on a free from Huddersfield has a big job on his hands if he is to dislodge Jordan Pickford as Goodison Park number 1.

A number of fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Everton goalkeeper Jonas Lossl's interview with Danish publication Tipsbladet in which he outlines his intention to push for the Toffees number 1 jersey.

The 30-year-old was snapped up by Everton in the summer on a free transfer from Huddersfield Town, but with England number 1 Jordan Pickford currently first-choice at Goodison Park and Maarten Stekelenburg as back-up, the Dane is currently third in the pecking order.

Pickford, 25, already has 91 appearances for the Toffees, 21 caps for England and a World Cup semi-final finish under his belt (Transfermarkt), while his current deputy has upwards of 450 professional appearances for club and country, 58 Netherlands caps, a World Cup silver medal and two Eredivisie titles (Transfermarkt).

Despite the magnitude of the task at hand, Lossl is relishing the challenge, telling Tipsbladet: "I believe 100 percent that I can become a first-team player here. Whether it is while Jordan is here or when he's gone, I don't know. But I believe it.... I would not have moved here if I did not have faith that I could succeed. I would like to make that very clear."

Lossl's comments brought about a number of naysayers who seriously doubt he can dislodge the two players in front of him and they made their feelings known on social media:

There was one message of support, however:

To date, Lossl - valued at £4.5million by Transfermarkt - has made the bench twice for Everton, against Crystal Palace and Watford, but did not make the squads against Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Lincoln City.
