The Rams left-back has been utilised at right-back by Philippe Cocu, whose Pride Park tenure has got off to a shaky start.
Derby County left-back Max Lowe has spoken of his temporary switch to the other flank in wake of injuries to Jayden Bogle and Andre Wisdom which left the right-back position in need of filling (Derby Telegraph).
Bogle enjoyed a sensational breakthrough season for the Rams last time out and made the right side of defence his own but has been sidelined since picking up an ankle injury in the second game of the season against Swansea City.
Wisdom, meanwhile, is yet to return to first-team action since he underwent surgery on a knee problem at the tail end of last season, therefore Lowe has been drafted in at right-back by new manager Phillip Cocu.
Derby began the season with victory at Huddersfield Town but their form soon tailed off, leaving the Pride Park side 19th in the Championship table, and while Lowe credited Cocu with helping him get accustomed to the position, he says the squad needs to be together as soon as possible.
"The start to the season has not been the way I expected it, to be fair," Lowe is quoted by the Derby Telegraph as saying. "I have had to fill in for Boges and Wis, and I have just tried to do my part for the team.
"It wasn't comfortable for me at first, but the gaffer helped me a lot with positional sense. It is good for my development playing on the other side, so I can only benefit from it, but the sooner we get Wis and Bogle back fit, the better because we need the squad together."
Lowe, who had a fruitful time on loan at Aberdeen last season, came through the ranks at Pride Park, is contracted to the club until the summer of 2021 and is valued by Transfermarkt at £450,000.
