Celtic's Scott Brown comments on Moussa Dembele

Moussa Dembele departed Celtic after two seasons back in 2018 and has since gone on to impress with Lyon.

Scott Brown has told the Scotsman that everyone knew that Moussa Dembele would leave Celtic eventually.

Celtic lost Dembele to Lyon just over a year ago, after he had spent just two seasons at Parkhead.

Dembele’s reputation rose massively during his two year stint at Celtic, where he netted 51 goals in 94 appearances.

And Brown admits that Celtic were always going to be up against it as they fought to keep Dembele.

The Bhoys are now facing a similar scenario with Odsonne Edouard, who has been in brilliant form so far this season.

And Brown said: “I think you look at him and you look at Moussa. The two of them came here to show how good they were and the both of them turn up in big games.

“Odsonne has been a real breath of fresh air. We all knew Moussa would leave eventually and Odsonne would have to step up but he has done it phenomenally well.”

Dembele has continued to score prolifically since making the move to Lyon, and he has now been linked with some of Europe’s biggest sides.

Moussa Dembele celebrates his 2nd goal (Celtic's 4th) during the Betfred Cup Semi-Final at Hampden Park on October 21, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Edouard will be hoping that his career can take off in the same manner, with the French striker now really starting to prove his talents at Parkhead.

Edouard has claimed six goals and five assists in 11 games for Celtic this term, with his form earning him a great deal of praise.

Edouard will be hoping to improve his goalscoring record further at the weekend, when Celtic take on Hamilton in their first game back after the international break.
