Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Erik Lamela has shared that he has 'numbers' in his head that he wants to target this season.
The 26-year-old has started every Premier League game for Mauricio Pochettino's side - during the previous campaign, he only started nine league matches, with injuries and lack of form playing its part [transfermarkt].
Spurs have picked up five points from their opening four matches and given the players that are returning for Pochettino, he will have some big decisions to make in these coming weeks.
Speaking to Sky Sports News (12/09/2019 at 2:40 pm), Lamela admits he is 'feeling good', at this moment in time, but the key for him is staying out of the treatment room.
"I am feeling good," Lamela told Sky Sports News. "Always, you can do and play better. But it's only the start of the season. I always have numbers in my head [to target for the season].
"Honestly, this season I want to be fit as much as I can. To be available then everything can come together if you are fit and you are playing. Then you have more chance to score and assist."
Lamela has scored one goal and supplied one assist so far this season - both of those came during Tottenham's 2-2 draw against Manchester City last month.
If the Argentine can stay fit and healthy then it'll boost his chances of playing, week in and week out, as well as showcasing his absolute best.
It could be argued that he hasn't been able to show his full worth to the Tottenham fan so far, but he has started at a decent pace and he will be well aware that he needs to pick it up a notch now.
