Newcastle United brought in striker Andy Carroll in the summer, but he is yet to be fit enough to feature.

According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce thinks that Andy Carroll can start 15 times this season.

Carroll was signed by Newcastle in the summer, but he has not been able to play yet.

The target-man has been recovering from injury, and he is making good progress now.

Carroll has joined in with Newcastle’s first-team training recently, as he takes a step closer to making his second debut for the club he grew up at.

And Bruce is reportedly convinced that Carroll can manage to stay off the treatment table this season.

The England international forward has suffered badly with injury throughout his career, but Bruce is confident that Newcastle can nurse him through the campaign.

The Magpies boss apparently feels that Carroll should be able to start at least 15 times this season, which would make him a very worthwhile signing.

Carroll, on his day, can still act as a battering ram up-front and his aerial ability and power makes him very difficult to defend against.

If Bruce could devise a system to get Joelinton, Carroll, Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron all involved, then the Magpies could pose more of an attacking threat than they have in many years.

And Newcastle fans will be hoping that Carroll’s return happens sooner rather than later, as they look to climb up the Premier League table.
