Paul Robinson played with Everton defender Michael Keane at Burnley.

Paul Robinson suggested on Sky Sports News (10:34am, September 11, 2019) that Everton central defender Michael Keane needs to improve on his concentration.

Robinson played with Keane at Burnley, and the former Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United goalkeeper does rate the 26-year-old central defender highly.

Robinsons said about Keane on Sky Sports News (10:34am, September 11, 2019): “I played with him at Burnley. He’s an all-round centre-half, but I think one of the things that he does lack ever so slightly is concentration. He needs somebody next to him to keep him on the ball all the time.

“His ability as a footballer, his passing ability is unquestioned, his ability in the air. And he’s got so much speed, he sometimes gets caught out, people get in behind him, but he’s deceptively quick and he recovers very, very well.”

Good defender

Keane is a very good central defender, and the Everton and England star can only get better in the coming years.

There are moments when the former Manchester United prospect does show lapses in concentrations, but overall his game is very good.

The 26-year-old is good on the ball, reads the game well, and makes the right challenges at the right times.

True, Keane – who is valued at €70 million (£62.76m) by the CIES Football Observatory – is not exactly one of the best centre-backs in the world, but he is of a very good standard in the Premier League.

According to WhoScored, the defender has made four appearances in the Premier League so far this season and played 33 league matches for Everton during the 2018-19 campaign.
