The Whites on-loan defender has been great for Marcelo Bielsa’s side but no Elland Road players are up for the accolade this month.

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the EFL’s nominations for August’s Championship Player of the Month, with the Whites on-loan defender Ben White not included in the quartet.

The 21-year-old centre-back linked up with the Elland Road club in the summer after putting pen to paper on a new deal at Brighton & Hove Albion (B&H Independent) and he has become integral to Marcelo Bielsa’s plans.

So far, White has played the full 90 minutes in each of the eight Championship games so far, plus playing in both Carabao Cup games (Transfermarkt), doing a good job so far of ensuring the loss of Pontus Jansson to Brentford has not been felt much.

Nonetheless, he did not make the shortlist of four players up for the monthly award, with Preston North End’s Daniel Johnson, Charlton Athletic’s Lyle Taylor, Mike van der Hoorn of Swansea City and Brentford’s Ollie Watkins the men in the running.

Here is some of the reaction from the Leeds fanbase upon finding out White was snubbed:

White has worked his way up the EFL pyramid in loan form, making 51 appearances for League Two side Newport County in 2017-18 and having a stint at League One Peterborough United in the second half of 2018-19 (Leeds website).
