There’s still a lot of confusion surrounding whether the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a PS4 exclusive or if it’ll eventually arrive on PC.

Alongside Cyberpunk 2077 and The Last Of Us Part II, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is the most anticipated game scheduled to arrive in 2020. And, following its appearance at the Tokyo Games Show 2019, fans are asking the age old question once more: is it coming to PC or will it remain a PlayStation 4 exclusive?

Despite there being some scepticism over the revamped combat and the story being split into parts, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake appears bound to please new and old Square Enix fans a lot more than the failure Final Fantasy 15.

This is because it very much looks and feels like a new game while still recapturing the genie in the lamp quality that made the PlayStation One original one of the greatest JRPGs of all time. However, is it a masterful retelling PC gamers will also be able to experience?

Is the Final Fantasy 7 Remake a PS4 exclusive?

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be a PS4 exclusive when it launches on March 3.

This means it will release on Sony’s system before any other potential platforms.

While the above is crystal clear, the confusion among gamers is whether it’ll be a permanent exclusive or a limited time deal. This confusion is similar to the back-and-forth merry go round surrounding Death Stranding and its likelihood to end up on Steam.

There’s no knowing for sure if it will eventually arrive on other systems at a later date, but the Remake won’t be confined to the PS4 as Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda has told Game Informer in the past that it will basically be playable on the PlayStation 5 also.

“I believe that our teams have made it so that the game will support both the next generation and the current generation of consoles,” said Matsuda. “I believe it is being developed so that it is going to be playable on both.”

Final Fantasy 7 being playable on both the PS4 and PS5 (in the future) isn’t surprising thanks to Sony’s next-gen console promising backwards compatibility.

What people really want to know is if and when it’ll arrive on PC.

Is the Final Fantasy 7 Remake coming to PC?

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake is not coming to PC when it launches on March 3.

While this is no doubt disappointing for loyalists of the master race, it’s still plausible that it’ll end up on Steam and other PC marketplaces at a later date.

The plausibility of it ending up on PC at a later date stems from the fact the marketing has lately lacked the “Only on PlayStation” stamp, as well as because Square Enix has said in the past that it will debut on PS4 “first.

Square Enix’s verbiage suggests that it will one day arrive on PC, but it could take a while as the company a month later said they “have no plans for other platforms” following the infamous Xbox Germany announcement.

It’d be a shock if Final Fantasy 7 didn’t eventually become a PC game also, but the only thing that is concrete is that the game will be a PS4 exclusive on March 3, 2020.
