England beat Kosovo 5-3 in a barmy game in Southampton last night,
England continued their 100% start to the EURO 2020 qualifiers by beating Kosovo 5-3 in a ridiculous game at the St Mary's Stadium.
The Three Lions hammered Bulgaria 4-0 on Saturday, and were expecting much of the same against Kosovo, despite them being on a 15-game unbeaten run.
However, Bernard Challandes saw his side go ahead within the first minute, as Michael Keane gave the ball straight to Vedat Muriqi, and he teed up Valon Berisha to score.
England's reply was strong though, as Keane atoned for his error by setting up Raheem Sterling's equaliser, before Harry Kane put England in front.
Mergim Vojvoda put through his own goal to make it 3-1, and Jadon Sancho's quickfire brace ensured England went into half time 5-1 up after an early scare.
Berisha and Muriqi added second half goals for Kosovo but England secured the win, with their attacking play exciting, whilst their defensive work left a lot to be desired.
Keane was guilty not only for the opening goal, but also for Berisha's second strike as he lost Muriqi's cross in the air, allowed Berisha to peel off him, then cut back in and score.
Some branded Keane a 'pub player' and 'absolutely garbage', highlighting that there simply must be better defenders around to pick instead, such as Liverpool's Joe Gomez, whilst urging Gareth Southgate to realise that Keane has no business playing international football.
Michael Keane pub player, heads it and kicks it. Going nowhere fast with him in the team— liam cox (@liamcox8) September 10, 2019
Joe Gomez is years ahead of Michael Keane— Tom (@tommansfield_) September 10, 2019
If there’s not a better CB in England than Michael Keane then that’s worrying.— Riken (@Savva177) September 10, 2019
Was Michael Keane drawn out of a hat to play for England tonight? SHOCKING— Tommy (@TommyTottenham1) September 10, 2019
And while I'm talking about the defence, Michael Keane shouldn't even be in the squad never mind starting.— Chris Rice (@C_Rice) September 10, 2019
The fact Michael Keane is starting over the likes of Tyrone Mings, Lewis Dunk, James Tarkowski and Conor Coady is ridiculous.— El Capitano (@SeniorCapitano) September 10, 2019
Michael Keane definitely isn’t good enough for international football— shaun willans (@swillans1980) September 10, 2019
Is Michael Keane really one of our first choice centre backs?— Colin Wright (@colinwright1959) September 10, 2019
Michael Keane wouldn’t get in the best back four in Merseyside, never mind England. Gareth. Wtf is your thinking— Brian K (@Brian_K68) September 10, 2019
Michael Keane is an embarrassment to England— Chris (@stingwee1) September 10, 2019
Just watched the England highlights and michael Keane once again proving he isn’t good enough for England. Our lack of quality options in the centre back area is my biggest concern with this current England squad— Jacob Fentem (@jacob_fentem) September 10, 2019
Michael Keane nowhere near good enough to play in that England team— Kirsty Stanley (@stanners_1982) September 10, 2019
Michael Keane is not international quality. Absolute pony defender— TheManHasNoName (@THFC_Mackaveli) September 10, 2019
Michael Keane is absolutely garbage. Should he nowhere near the England side. Would have Tarkowski and Gomez well before him, but I’m sure when Stones gets a run of games again he’ll be back in the starting lineup.— Ste (@Hurrikeen) September 10, 2019
