Everton midfielder Tom Davies has told the Telegraph that he is hoping to have impressed Marco Silva through his international displays.

Davies has only been given 11 minutes worth of action at Everton this season, with Silva often overlooking him.

Davies, who is on a £25,000-a-week contract (Spotrac), was not even selected for Everton’s recent EFL Cup clash against Lincoln City, as he seems to have slipped a long way down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

However, Davies showed his quality over the international break by putting in two excellent performances for England’s under-21 side.

And Davies said: “I’m just doing my best and hopefully I’ve impressed him [Silva]. It’s up to him to see how it goes.

“Everton stay in touch. I got a text after the Turkey game from one of the staff so it’s all good. It was positive they were watching and I’m glad they were.”

Silva was a big fan of Davies and has even given the youngster Everton’s captain armband to wear on occasion.

It is, therefore, somewhat of a surprise that he seems to have slipped out of the Portuguese boss’s plans.

If Davies is to break back into Everton’s team he will have to compete with the likes of Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin and Andre Gomes for a place.

Everton are next in action on Sunday, when they take on Bournemouth.
