Wales beat Belarus 1-0 on Monday night, with Ben Davies starting.
Wales were in friendly action on Monday night, beating Belarus 1-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium thanks to Daniel James’ goal.
Ryan Giggs’ side had beaten Azerbaijan 2-1 on Friday night in a EURO 2020 qualifier, but the friendly with Belarus allowed Giggs to tinker with his side a little.
It wasn’t exactly convincing against Belarus, but Wales did grab the win thanks to James scoring again, as the winger’s fine start to the season continues.
Giggs handed a start to Tottenham’s Ben Davies, having only given him 10 minutes of playing time in the competitive clash with Azerbaijan.
Aston Villa’s Neil Taylor was picked ahead of him in that game, so the Spurs ace will have been looking to prove himself to Giggs in this friendly.
The 26-year-old missed the start of the season with a groin injury, meaning he has played just two minutes of action having come on as a substitute against Newcastle United.
Wales fans were seemingly impressed with his performance last night though, branding him ‘absolutely quality’ and urging Giggs to start him over Taylor in the future.
Others named him as a man of the match contender, branding his performance ‘classy’ whilst hoping that he gets to play ahead of Danny Rose for Spurs in the near future.
Rodon, Morrell or Davies all deserving of MotM over Jonny Williams who showed endeavour and heart but too little quality in the second half— Podcast Pêl-droed (@PodcastPeldroed) September 9, 2019
Still, great to have him back. Needs to make it a regular thing #walblr
Roberts, Rodon, Mepham and Ben Davies has got to be the back 4 for the remaining qualifiers for us to have any chance of qualifying!— Matthew Evans (@EvansScfc) September 9, 2019
Ben Davies had a really good game. I really like Danny Rose but he has been at fault for a lot of Spurs’ conceded goals this season and has also offered very little going forward. Time for Davies to have a chance. #coys #thfc— Ian Ayers (@ayers79) September 9, 2019
2/2 wins for #wales. Can take more positives again from that, #allen. #rodon. #davies. 3 big performers Still #Ramsey to come back & the real, fit and firing on cyclinders = #Bale . #believe. #Euro2020Qualifiers— DAMIEN BARNARD (@DAMORKO666) September 9, 2019
Yes, its a friendly but that was better from @Cymru capped by a wonderful counter attacking goal from Dan James. One or 2 sloppy passes but overall plenty to like about that 1st half. Debutant livewire Joe Morrell dovetailing well with capt Joe Allen, Ben Davies classy. HT1-0— Rob Phillips (@robphillipshere) September 9, 2019
I absolutely love Ben Davies!— Dylan Thomas (@DylanThomas90) September 9, 2019
Ben Davies is a vast improvement on Taylor.— GwilBallinger (@gwilymb1945) September 9, 2019
Why doesn’t Ryan Giggs start Ben Davies every game. He’s been absolutely quality tonight.— Elijah (@ElijahJoel8) September 9, 2019
