Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is set to return this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur have been given a boost by reports Tanguy Ndombele is set to return to action this weekend.

Football London report Ndombele is likely to be involved in the home game against Crystal Palace.

Ndombele suffered a thigh injury before the international break, and he pulled out of France’s squad.

The former Lyon star played in three matches before missing the North London derby.

He needs to look back on that as an extension of his pre-season, with the really hard work starting now.

Ndombele has had a taster of the Premier League, and passed his initial test, scoring a superb goal on his debut.

Now he needs to kick on, and pick up some form, especially with the Champions League set to begin next week.

Ndombele is crucial to Tottenham’s aims of going far in the competition once again.

Who joins him?

Ndombele is an automatic starter when he returns. If he is fully fit, there should be no debate.

The bigger question is who joins him in midfield. Tottenham have so many options they are spoiled for choice.  Getting the right balance will be difficult.

Spurs have the chance to play Dele Alli alongside Ndombele for the first time in a competitive game, while Giovani Lo Celso, Harry Winks, Christian Eriksen and Moussa Sissoko are all looking for starts.

It might be hit and miss to find the right combination, for the right match, but Ndombele is a must start. He is a midfielder who can do it all.

Getting him back is a key part of solving the puzzle, but there is still work to do.
