West Bromwich Albion defender Nathan Ferguson was the subject of praise by the Baggies Twitter feed after helping England Under-20s keep a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over their Switzerland counterparts on Monday night (FA website).

The Young Lions left it late in St. Jakob, where an injury-time goal from Jack Clarke proved the difference between the two teams and helped Keith Downing’s side pick up a first win of the season, while Ferguson and co secured a second clean sheet in a row after the stalemate against Netherlands U20s last week.

West Brom's Twitter channel paid tribute to Ferguson for his efforts at international level, to which the 18-year-old posted a reply:

A player who very quickly impressed Slaven Bilic following his arrival at The Hawthorns, Ferguson made his Albion debut in the Croat's first game as Albion head coach, winning man of the match in the 2-1 Championship win at Nottingham Forest, the West Brom website citing Bilic as an admirer of the player.

Ferguson was a regular for West Brom's Under-23s throughout the 2018-19 season after spending pre-season with the first-team, while this term he has played five of six Championship games, completing the full 90 minutes in each of the five (Transfermarkt).
