Michael Owen has sung the praises of Leeds United striker Eddie Nketiah and stated that people are telling him that he reminds them of Arsenal legend Ian Wright.
The former England international claimed Nketiah looks like a 'real top player' as the highly-rated attacker featured for England's U21's on Monday.
Nketiah started England U21's 2-0 win over Kosovo – he was substituted late into the second half for Rhian Brewster, with Phil Foden netting a brace.
Nonetheless, speaking to BT Sport, as posted on their official Twitter account, Owen had nothing but positive words to say about Nketiah.
“23 goals in 26 games at all levels for England so far,” Owen told BT Sport. “He has already scored goals for Leeds, obviously on-loan from Arsenal.
“This lad looks like he is a real top player. I was speaking to Ian Wright about him the other day, only because a lot of people were saying to me 'he plays like Ian Wright, on the shoulder'. He likes running in behind. He scores goals. Maybe he can improve his hold-up play.”
Life at Leeds United has started off in a healthy fashion for Nketiah, who has big pressures on young shoulders.
Whilst the in-form Patrick Bamford is starting on a regular basis for Marcelo Bielsa's side, Nketiah's role for the club will seemingly become more important as the games tick on.
If Nketiah can prove his worth at Elland Road this season then it'll bode well for his chances of breaking into Arsenal's senior team.
