James Chester, Marvelous Nakamba, Jonathan Kodjia and Matt Targett are the subject of the latest Villa Park player fitness update.
The Villans have confirmed on their official website that James Chester has made a return to full training this week, while Marvelous Nakamba, who has been building up his match fitness, is closing in on his Premier League debut.
Jonathan Kodjia and Matt Targett, however, are unlikely to make the Hammers clash, the former having picked up an "innocuous" head injury during the international break and the latter nursing a hamstring issue and is more likely to feature against Arsenal a week on Sunday.
Here is what some Villa fans have said on Twitter, with a number getting a bit frustrated with Kodjia being unavailable again, while others were buoyed by the Chester update:

Players do have unfortunate successions of injuries. Dare say it's from a training aerial challenge. When Kodjia is fully fit he'll do us good. Or what is the alternative? Smith to banish him to reserves or transfer list him due to injuries? He's one of our own. Back him.— Gavin McKenna (@GMCK25) 10 September 2019
