The Celtic man found it difficult to make a big impact after starting for his country.
The Hoops man, who is flourising under Neil Lennon currently, was a starter against the number one ranked side in the world.
That came after criticism of Steve Clarke's decision not to play him against Russia on Friday night.
It was a massive opportunity to impress, but the quality of the Belgians ensured that no-one in a Scotland shirt had a particularly big impact.
Christie was nonetheless one of the brighter performers.
His probing pass allowed Andy Robertson to bear down on goal for what was one of the country's best attacking opportunities of the match.
He was also one of the hardest working on the pitch, with not many of his compatriots showing the same kind of energy or willingness to dig out a result against an elite side.
From Celtic's perspective, they'll be most pleased he has come through the game without picking an injury given his incredible form for the Hoops of late.
He's scored a massive eight goals already this season, also assisting five times.
Christie though will have to bounce back from the double header defeat along with his international teammates Callum McGregor and James Forrest.
Scotland fans took to Twitter on Monday night to share their thoughts on his performance, with the player getting mixed reviews...

Wonder if the media will go for Christie like they did Mcburnie, he's been worse than terrible— Robert Morrison (@boabster1982) September 9, 2019
Christie’s always got his next pass in mind before he’s got the ball. Such an intelligent footballer. Pity the next pass is too a manikin by the name of Phillips tonight.— Gary (@GaryC88) September 9, 2019
Ryan Christie doing a lot of running about and not much else— Juicy (@DonaldMDewar) September 9, 2019
Only player sticking out is Christie tbh .— Ross (@_RM1967) September 9, 2019
Hard to find any positives from this game! Possibly Ryan Christie’s performance. Always looking to get on the ball even under pressure.— Daryl (@darylbhoy) September 9, 2019
But you’ll get nowhere near a major tournament with Stephen O’Donnell as your right back!
If only the other 10 players put in as much of an effort as Ryan Christie has tonight we would be getting somewhere. Disgrace to the shirt. How you can’t give everything representing your country (in anything) baffles me. Have a bit of fucking pride come on— Stuart Mackay (@stuartKmackay) September 9, 2019
Ryan Christie is the only decent Scottish player— Liam (@Liam67M) September 9, 2019
