Manchester United fans have provided a mixed reaction to Marcus Rashford stating that he is using Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane as a benchmark for him to become a better player.
On Saturday, both Rashford and Kane started for England during their comfortable 4-0 win over Bulgaria in their Euro 2020 qualifier, with Kane netting a hat-trick for his country.
Prior to the game, Rashford lauded Kane as 'one of the best finishers' in the game and shared that he wants to get close to the Tottenham man as possible, as quoted by The Telegraph.
Kane has been prolific in recent seasons, which has seen him become England's main man up top, as Rashford is hoping to take that next step in his game.
At club level, Rashford is now he main man up top for Manchester United, whilst he will be hoping to match the goalscoring exploits of his fellow countryman in these coming seasons.
Kane has netted three Premier League goals for Tottenham this season, whilst Rashford has found the back of the net for United on two occasions.
Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling is the top English marksman in the league with five goals to his name after four league matches.
Nonetheless, both Kane and Rashford will be in action for England once again on Tuesday night, as Gareth Southgate's side take on Kosovo at St Mary's.
Here is a selection of Manchester United fans reacting on Twitter to Rashford's comments:
Over 150 competitive games for Man United and still 'learning' to miss chances...— Gerald Onyango (@GCarsonkenya1) September 7, 2019
God!! Our standards have dropped. I miss when we used to have Strikers other strikers look up to— Elvis ☞ (@Elvis__b) September 6, 2019
We have the most toxic fan base omg. Some of the replies ♂️— Enrique Cervantes Jr. (@ecervantes017) September 6, 2019
If Kane is the standard for Rashford then you know we are in trouble. pic.twitter.com/mz7zzi4run— Fly_low (@united777777) September 7, 2019
So far you're not yet close to Harry Kane in terms of finishing Rash. A lot of work needs to be done pal and rather stay away from set piece duties.— Archie (@Utd_007) September 6, 2019
Yet it doesn't work— (@utdhydr) September 6, 2019
His finishing isn't the main issue, the main issue is decision making. Kane has a high football iq. Try learn from that as well Marcus.— S_Akiyama4646 (@Seto_Akiyama46) September 7, 2019
Can we just sign Kane then ?— liammufc (@LiamMatthews15) September 7, 2019
