Bruno Fernandes didn’t exactly impress for Portugal this weekend.

Portugal’s push towards EURO 2020 took another step in the right direction this weekend, beating Serbia 4-2 Belgrade on Saturday night.
Portugal had only played two group games, meaning they needed to try and catch up to Ukraine at the top of their group having only claimed two points from those two games.
They were 2-0 up thanks to goals from Willliam Carvalho and Goncalo Guedes, before Nikola Milenkovic pulled one back for the hosts.
Cristiano Ronaldo made it 3-1, and whilst Serbia briefly gained hope through an Aleksandar Mitrovic goal, Bernardo Silva sealed the win for Portugal.
Fernando Santos will be pleased with the win, though he will be looking for better from some players – and playmaker Bruno Fernandes may be one of them.
The Sporting star excelled last season with 32 goals and 18 assists, leading to major interest in his signature, with Sporting president Frederico Varandas telling the club’s official website that he had a €65millon (£59million) bid on the table from Tottenham.

No move materialised, but some Spurs fans may now be interested to see that the 24-year-old left many fans disappointed with his performance against Serbia.
For instance, he was guilty of giving the ball away for Mitrovic’s goal, and whilst he set up the first two goals, some were annoyed by his slack passing and tendency to shoot too often.
Some felt that he was ‘useless’ and ‘did nothing’, even calling his performance a ‘disasterclass’ whilst accusing him of just being a stats player rather than someone who impacts games at the highest level.
