Alex Rae has referred to Chris Sutton's claim about Rangers' signing of Ryan Kent as a 'load of tosh'.

Writing in The Record this morning, the former Celtic hitman intimated that the Gers' £7 million deadline-day deal for Kent was a 'sheer panic' buy.

The 22-year-old is officially Rangers' second most expensive signing of all time and Sutton claimed that his old side have better wingers than him.

Here's how former Ibrox hero Rae reacted to his fellow pundit's comments on Twitter.

Rae is right to a certain extent - Rangers' signing of Kent wasn't related to panic.

Yes, his acquisition came a day after losing 2-0 to Celtic in the first Old Firm clash of the season, but it's worth remembering that Steven Gerrard was trying to re-sign him for much of the summer.

It was only when Liverpool refused to budge on making him available for another loan that the Rangers manager got serious and sanctioned the big-money purchase.
