Ugurcan Cakir is once again being linked with a move to Liverpool and the Trabzonspor star’s agent has admitted to iNews that links with a bonafide Premier League giant are nothing short of ‘amazing’.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper produced a performance which belied his tender years on Sunday, making no less than eight saves as he secured a share of the spoils for Trabzonspor away at Super Lig powerhouses Fenerbahce.
Cakir, who is apparently valued at around £14 million, has been highly rated in Turkey for some time now with his cat-like reflexes catching the eye.
And amid claims from Star that Liverpool could look to bring in the youngster to provide competition for Alisson Becker and Adrian, Cakir’s agent could hardly hold back his pride.
“It’s amazing and [a source of pride] at the same time to hear such nice things about our client, Ugurcan,” said Engin Kirkpinar. “He is one of the best [up-and-coming] goalkeepers that Turkey has.”
Speaking back to HaberTurk back in May, Kirkpinar claimed that Liverpool had indeed expressed an interest in a shot-stopper who made his international debut in May with Lille and Schalke also keeping tabs on his development.
And if Liverpool’s scouts were in fact present at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium last weekend, they will surely have returned to Merseyside with a glowing report on Cakir.
It remains to be seen, however, what The Reds’ apparent interest means for the futures of Caoimhin Kelleher and Kamil Grabara.
