Harry Winks has admitted that he's delighted to be keeping Christian Eriksen as a Tottenham Hotspur team-mate.
The English transfer window closed on August 8 but Eriksen's Spurs future was looking precarious up until this week.
But Monday's deadline passed without a Spanish club having made their move for the Tottenham star, who was heavily linked to Real Madrid for much of the summer.
Asked if he's relieved that the Dane is staying, Winks told The Evening Standard: "Yes, of course. Christian’s a fantastic player, there’s no doubt about that.
"He’s been one of our most impressive performers over the last few years. Christian’s a top person and whatever he decides, that’s up to him.
"All we can say is how well he’s performed for us this season and how professional he is. He’s fantastic.”
It's a major boost for Tottenham, even if Eriksen's long-term future remains uncertain.
The former Ajax playmaker has underlined his importance to Mauricio Pochettino since the season started, posting a game-changing cameo in the opening-day win over Aston Villa, and opening the scoring against Arsenal in the North London derby last Sunday.
Yes, Pochettino signed Giovani Lo Celso, but the Argentine hasn't set the Premier League alight just yet and if the Spurs boss can squeeze him, Eriksen and Dele Alli into the same XI then it could be very exciting for the Lilywhites.
