Leeds United released Vurnon Anita earlier this week.

Leeds United confirmed the release of Vurnon Anita earlier this week, and he may be on the verge of a move to Israel.
The 30-year-old joined Leeds on a free transfer from Newcastle United in 2017, but he played just 22 games before Marcelo Bielsa decided to move him on.
The former Ajax man went back to the Netherlands with a loan move to Willem II, and when that deal ended, he was left in limbo at Leeds.
Clearly unwanted but on decent wages, Anita was hard to shift until Leeds decided to terminate his contract by mutual consent earlier this week.
Now, Walla in Israel claim that Maccabi Haifa want to sign Anita on a free transfer, as part of a triple swoop that fans in the Championship may find strange.
Maccabi Haifa have targeted three Dutch former Championship players this summer. They succeeded with their first target, ex-Norwich winger Yanic Wildschut, and then also pulled off a move for former QPR playmaker Tjaronn Chery.

With those two on board, they now want third target Anita to join and seal their strange triple swoop for Dutch players who have made their names in English football.
Having Wildschut and Chery may just tempt Anita into a move to a Maccabi Haifa side who have recently bowed out of the Europa League qualifiers at the hands of Strasbourg.
