Christian Herc is yet to make a Premier League debut for Wolverhampton Wanderers but can he make his name at Viktoria Plzen?

For a while at least, Dunajska Streda could dream of winning the Slovakian top flight for the first time in 1985. And it was Christian Herc who made it all possible.

A 20-year-old midfielder who is yet to make an appearance for Wolverhampton Wanderers during four years in the Black Country, Herc relished the chance to return home last summer with a season-long loan at DAC.

Three goals, six assists and countless dazzling displays in the centre of the park, Herc made a huge impression on Slovakian football. But it still wasn’t enough; Dunajska Streda ended the 2018/29 season second, behind Slovan Bratislava. Glory might have eluded him but, from an individual standpoint, the midfielder’s stock had never been higher.

Herc was farmed out once again this summer as he looked to build on a breakthrough campaign at senior level but he certainly has a long way to go if he wants to replicate the impact he made at NAC with his new employers.

Czech giants Viktoria Plzen, for whatever reason, are yet to hand Herc his debut in any competition, 12 games into the 2019/20 campaign. The Slovakian U21 international was spotted on the bench during a goalless draw with Bohemians in August but that is the only time he has been included in the match-day squad.

With Herc’s loan running until the end of the season, he still has time to turn things around. And for the sake of his Wolves career, he might have to.
