The Owls are looking for a new permanent manager and the Lincoln boss was asked on Tuesday about speculation linking him to Hillsborough.

A number of Sheffield Wednesday fans have taken to Twitter following reports linking Lincoln City boss Danny Cowley with the vacant Hillsborough manager's job.
The Owls are currently under the stewardship of Lee Bullen on a caretaker basis after Steve Bruce left for Newcastle United in the summer and have been weighing up their options for a permanent successor.
Cowley took over at Lincoln in the summer of 2016, alongside his brother Nicky, and the two have taken the East Midlands club from the National League to League One where they currently sit second in the table.
Several outlets including Sky Sports News have claimed that Wednesday are in advanced talks with Cowley over a move, and after the Imps' EFL Trophy defeat at Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday, he shed some more light on the situation, including interest from another club, Huddersfield Town.
“We had the opportunity to speak to Huddersfield and decided it wasn’t the right time,” he told Lincolnshire Live. “We’ve got full respect for Huddersfield. It was nothing to do with them as a football club, it was just the timing and the role we’re in. It’s a role we’re very committed to. It’s a club we’re very proud to be a part of.”

On being linked with the Owls, Cowley said he had "no idea, that’s news to me", and upon being asked what it would take for him to leave Sincil Bank he said: "It would have to be the perfect opportunity for us to even consider [leaving]. That’s where it is. In life, you can never say never. I said that in the summer. But it would have to be what we perceive to be the perfect opportunity.”
Here is what some Wednesday fans said on social media about the continued speculation and Cowley's response to the question of the Owls' reported interest:
That’s what Bruce said when asked about Newcastle

If the Cowley's take over, we are all going to have to be grown up and give them the time they need to mould the side to their methods. There will be times we think we've made a mistake, but given time, they just might repeat their promotion magic. I'm in! Who's with me? #swfc

Don't underestimate the Cowley's the job they done at Lincoln is amazing. Just because they not managed in championship don't mean they can't. They make a plan and stick to it week in week out. Not changing it every game. We will be lucky if we get them.

Up next for Wednesday is Sunday's Championship trip to Huddersfield Town.
