The Black Cats ace was sent off in the League One game against Peterborough but it was overturned on appeal.

Sunderland ace Luke O'Nien has taken to Twitter expressing his gratitude and relief after his three-game ban following the League One loss at Peterborough United was overturned on appeal.
The right-back was shown a straight red card in the 3-0 defeat to Posh at the weekend after an off-the-ball tussle with Ivan Toney, though video replays showed the Black Cats man had done no more than grab Toney around the bicep.
O'Nien was therefore facing a three-game ban when the Stadium of Light outfit returned to action following their international break but, as announced by the club on their website and social media channels, it was overturned on appeal by an independent panel.
The 24-year-old will be available for selection when Jack Ross’ side travel to Accrington Stanley on Saturday 14 September and he took to social media with a short message:
Thank you ⚪️ https://t.co/yDM5Qz2nWR

A number of Black Cats fans were also relieved that common sense had prevailed:
Shocking decision in the first place!

It is the fourth time under Ross that the Black Cats have successfully overturned a red card against one of their players, with Max Power, Chris Maguire and Alim Ozturk having been in the same boat as O'Nien last season.
