Jordan Pickford has conceded four goals in four games for Everton this season.

Jordan Pickford has claimed that he ‘thinks he’s in good form’ and that he has ‘kicked on’ from last season as he has kept two clean sheets in four matches for Everton this season.

England’s number one goalkeeper, who joined Everton from Sunderland for £30 million in 2017 [Sky Sports], is currently on international duty where he will be preparing for qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo.

Over the weekend, he helped the Toffees secure a 3-2 win over Wolves, as last season a number of his performances, especially against Liverpool and Newcastle came under scrutiny.

Speaking to Sky Sports News (03/09/2019 at 10:15 am), Pickford shared his thoughts on his current form and Everton’s chances of breaking into the top-six.

“I think I am in good form,” Pickford told Sky Sports News. “I think I have kicked on. I feel strong. Clean sheets, of course, I want to keep clean sheets every game. The main thing for me is that is winning. As long as you win if you have to concede now and again then it’s alright. I have been making good saves and my distribution has been good.

“With the calmness, it’s all about playing out from the back. It’s just knowing game management really. In terms of calmness, I have thought about a lot to become calmer.

On top-six battle: “I think it’ll be a great one. We just have to keep picking up points. Our home form is going to be crucial for that. We have carried that on from last season. We have to keep doing that now. Everton back in the day, their home record was incredible. I think this is my third season and towards the back end of last season, we started to get that [home form back]. If we make Everton a fortress then it’ll be hard for teams to come there.”

After a slow start to the season, it seems as though Marco Silva’s side are beginning to find their feet as they have scored seven goals from their previous two matches in all competitions.

Last season, Everton had a pretty strong home record and they will be hoping that will continue as the season progresses because if it does then it’ll increase their chances of breaking into the European places.
