James McFadden claims Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard can go 'anywhere he wants'

Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has started off the new season in a very strong fashion.

James McFadden has warned Celtic that the 'amazing' Odsonne Edouard will be getting 'attention' for his recent performances as he backed the striker to 'go anywhere he wants'. 

The 21-year-old forward has been in brilliant form for Celtic this season and that was displayed when he scored at Ibrox during his sides 2-0 win over their Old Firm rivals. 

Edouard joined the Bhoys last summer when he made the switch from French champions Paris-Saint Germain - he was seemingly a replacement for Moussa Dembele. 

Speaking to Sky Sports News (03/09/2019 09:25 am), McFadden stated you can see why a player like Edouard has been on the books of PSG, as he backed him to go right to the top. 

"He's got huge ability," McFadden told Sky Sports News. "And I think that the facets to his game are excellent. He's such a pivotal player for Celtic. He's a target man, but not in the sense of flicking headers on or just running about. His touch is brilliant. He brings so many players into play. His awareness is great and he's a goalscorer. 

"I think Celtic rely heavily on him to get up the pitch. I've been hugely impressed by Edouard. I think his consistency levels have been excellent this season and he always turns up against Rangers and that's something you need from your strikers.

"As far as potential, he could go anywhere he wants. His ability is amazing. You can see why he was at PSG at the start of his career. He's going to score loads of goals this season. But that in itself will bring attention. It is just a case of enjoying him whilst he's here because he's a fantastic striker."

Last season, Edouard showcased what he was about to the Celtic supporters, but it perhaps didn't come in the consistent manner in which they would have wanted. 

Now he is proving his true worth and he will be hoping that by the time the season comes to a close then his goals have guided Celtic to nine-in-a-row and he is also the top marksman in the league.
