Ben White has told Brighton's official website that he is enjoying the attention that he is getting following his loan move to Leeds, and admitted that he has not had anything like that having not played for such a large club before.
White has proved to be an inspired signing for Marcelo Bielsa's side. He was almost immediately put under an enormous amount of pressure with Pontus Jansson leaving for Brentford after arguably his best campaign yet for the Whites.
Some initially had their doubts about the youngster, who went into this season having not played at a level higher than League One. But the 21-year-old has emphatically silenced his doubters.
Leeds boast the best defensive record in the Championship, with three goals conceded in their opening six games. White is the only defender to have featured in all of the club's fixtures in all competitions so far, and he has already established himself as a fan favourite.
And White explained in an interview with his parent club how much he is enjoying his time with Leeds so far.
“I’ve seen the praise I’ve been getting since I arrived at the club and it’s obviously very nice," he told Brighton's official website.
“I haven’t really had that attention before, it’s a massive club – but I’m just focused on what I’m trying to do for the team, our aim this year is promotion and we all believe we can achieve that.”
With White playing alongside Liam Cooper, many would have expected the Whites captain to really take the youngster under his wing. But the pair have been superb together, and White has taken no time to become a real leader himself.
His composure on the ball and reading of the game already appears to be outstanding. It is becoming more and more difficult to imagine Leeds having much of a chance of securing another deal further down the line, but the Elland Road faithful may not mind too much if he leaves having helped the club get across the line in the promotion race first.
