According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has been ‘taken aback’ by Andy Carroll’s attitude since he signed.

Carroll returned to Newcastle this summer on a pay as you play deal, but he is yet to make an appearance on the pitch due to injury.

However, the target-man has still already impressed Bruce off the field, through his attitude.

In Newcastle team meetings Carroll has reportedly been very vocal, which has caught Bruce’s eye.

Carroll is said to be offering advice to Newcastle’s other forwards on a regular basis, as he looks to help them out with his experience.

Newcastle have a forward line which is relatively untested in the Premier League, with Joelinton currently leading the line.

The Brazilian has shown signs of promise in his first four Premier League appearances, but it is clear that he is still adjusting to the level.

Carroll has been back in light training for Newcastle in recent weeks, and could make his return to action sooner rather than later.

The England international should help to increase the threat that Bruce’s side carry in a forward sense, through his power and aerial ability.

Newcastle are currently in 14th place in the Premier League table, after four games have been played.
