Tottenham Hotspur failed to sell Victor Wanyama in the summer despite reportedly agreeing a fee.

According to a report from The Telegraph, Victor Wanyama's move away from Tottenham fell through on transfer deadline day as the midfielder asked for more money from both Spurs and Club Brugge.
After a tough couple of years, Wanyama appeared to be on his way out of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the final hours of the European window, with The Telegraph reporting that Daniel Levy had agreed a £12 million fee with the Belgian side.
However, the deadline passed with the Kenya international still in Mauricio Pochettino's squad, and The Telegraph has suggested that Wanyama's request for more money from the two clubs resulted in the deal falling through.
According to the report, Levy refused to pay the 28-year-old more - it is speculated that he may have been expecting Brugge to stump up the cash. But instead, they decided to sign Eder Balanta from Basel.

It does appear to be a setback that Spurs did not manage to offload Wanyama. The former Celtic man is yet to feature for Tottenham this term, and has been well down the pecking order for some time now.
Wanyama has made just 12 Premier League starts across the last two seasons having made 36 top flight appearances during his first campaign following his switch from Southampton.

With Spurs well-stocked in the middle of the park, it is arguably difficult to see Wanyama getting back into the team anytime soon unless he is given a chance to impress in the Carabao Cup or Pochettino has to deal with a considerable injury crisis.
The problem perhaps, is that the longer he spends out of the picture, the harder it will be for Tottenham to get anything like £12 million for the midfielder in a future window.
