Defender Conor Shaughnessy left Leeds United on loan.

Conor Shaughnessy has revealed that a desire for regular football fuelled his Leeds United exit on Monday.
The towering Irishman, who stands at 6’4, left Leeds to join Mansfield Town on loan yesterday.
Shaughnessy hasn’t kicked a ball for United in over a year, after being taken off at half-time by Marcelo Bielsa in a League Cup defeat by Preston last August.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Hearts, but even then the 23-year-old, who impressed during Thomas Christiansen’s reign at Elland Road, was not a regular fixture at Tynecastle.
The former Reading youth, who joined Leeds in 2016, told the League Two club’s official website: “This is an important stage of my career and it feels like the right move for me. I need to play games, get experience under my belt and I think this is the perfect place for me to do that.”
It would be good to see Shaughnessy prosper at Mansfield, even if is a major backwards step in terms of making it as Leeds in the long term.
The centre-back, who can also play midfield, won the hearts of quite a few Whites’ fans early on in the 2017-18 campaign, but it has gone a bit pear-shaped for him since.
Mansfield sit 19th in League Two.
